Sunrise - an endless rebirth or disrupted slumber?
A self directed project with the theme of Sunsets and associations.
In my first year of university we had a unit called "Intoduction to Image creation" where we had essentially free reign on our coursework with only requirements of 60 second short film/trailor and poster for that clip. Naturally I aimed to challenge myself and created an animation short story that posed the question: Sunrise, an endless rebirth or disrupted slumber? Since the unit was only teaching about the basics of both photo manipulation and video editing I taught myself 2D animating so I could bring my project plan to life.
As a concequence, for this unit overall I achieved the equivilant of a First (with a 72 and a 79 averaging at 78 marks total) even with the mess of lockdown situations going on :P .
In the summer that followed I created further sun related pieces as the theme just would't leave my mind.
A character experiment into: what if Solei and Luna are but one and the same, sharing the same vessel unknown by the other...

Initially this was just supposed to be a plan sketch for my coursework unit but I got a little carried away and went onto inking it.
2D animation that visually personifies the sun waking up and rising to the sky.
This was my poster for my unit's video baised of off my previous illustration. Using techniques, such as masking in photoshop, I attempted to bring it to life by using photographs of sunsets, that I had previously taken, to be used as textures.
With the whole recent sun and cloud project in my head I was instantly drawn to an artist's DrawTHisInYourStyle challege, that I found on instagram, where he had a medusa type character with golden rays behind her head.
